My Flash Game
Code
Unfortunately, I can no longer access the code from my tutorial because it is blocked. However, in my tutorial, the speed of the ball was 8. I wanted the ball to move faster, so I kept making the number the higher and higher until I got to the speed I wanted.
I also changed the position at which the dog started from at the beginning of each level. Below is a photo of where the dog started from in my tutorial.
I wanted the dog to start from a higher point, so that the player would have more time to adjust the paddle and react to the beginning of the game. So I just changed the X and Y points for the starting point in the code. A photo of the code I changed is below. As well as a photo of where the dog starts now that I changed my code.
Lastly, I changed the amount of lives a player has in my game from three to one in order to make my game more difficult. There used to be a three where the one is in the code below.
Reflection
For game design, I would honestly give myself an 8 because my game has a variety of glitches that can occur randomly. For example: the dog sometimes gets stuck on the side, so the player must lose in order to reset the game to get it to work again. Also, sometimes the dog will flash at the top of screen. However, these glitches were part of the tutorial I used, and I did not know these glitches would occur when I chose my tutorial. On the other hand, I feel that I deserve a 10 for effort and creativity because originally I was copying and pasting the code from the tutorial website, where I ran into a variety of problems and errors. That was really frustrating because each step I completed seemed to unravel a new error that I needed Chris's help to solve. When I was on Step 5 (I believe), Chris revealed to me that I could download all the code from my Flash Game at once. From there, I abandoned my original method of copying and pasting, and began personalizing the downloaded code. To do this, I added my own images and changed pieces of the code to fit my liking.
